This menu kicks off our new youth spotlight series! Throughout the year, we will invite youth to create their own Thrive Meal menu and lead the team in recipe development and prep. Our first featured young person is Adrian who started our program in February 2024. One of our most consistent youth, Adrian has worked more than 900 hours in our kitchen and earned nearly $15,000 in our program. For this menu, Adrian wanted to honor his mom who could turn leftovers into an incredible meal. The kale salad and garlic naan are two of his favorite dishes to make and eat.
When asked what Adrian likes most about Pathways Kitchen, he shared:
I support Pathways Kitchen because when I was 17 my mother passed and my step father was missing. When I was at the rock bottom and lost, Pathways Kitchen gave me something to do and helped me think things through while doing what I loved.
I continue to return because I want new experiences and so I can learn what my mother never had the chance to on my own. The program has helped me become more “social” even if only for work, and to experience new things.
